Overview
Cleaners can now add and edit notes on their jobs. Until now, notes were read-only for them — if a cleaner found a wrong gate code or learned the dog gets shut in the back bedroom, they had to text you and you had to type it in.
This is permission-based and off by default. When you turn it on, it applies to every cleaner on your account.
Which Notes Cleaners Can Edit
With the permission on, cleaners can add and edit these four note types from Job Details:
Entry Code — door codes, gate codes, lockbox codes.
Cleaning Notes — job-specific instructions for that occurrence only.
Customer Notes — long-term details that stick to the customer profile.
Property Notes — location-specific instructions that stick to the address.
Office Notes and Invoice Notes are not included. Those stay visible to office staff only, no matter how this permission is set.
For a full breakdown of what each note type is for and who can see it, see Notes in Allison.
How to Turn It On
Go to Settings in your Allison account.
Scroll to Cleaner Permissions.
Find Edit notes on their jobs.
Toggle it On.
When On, cleaners can add and edit the entry code, cleaning notes, customer notes, and property notes on jobs they're assigned to.
When Off, cleaners can read those notes but can't change them.
The change takes effect immediately. There's nothing for your cleaners to update or reinstall.
What Cleaners Can and Can't Touch
Cleaners can only edit notes on jobs they are assigned to. They can't browse or edit notes on anyone else's jobs.
Customer Notes and Property Notes are attached to the customer profile and the address. If a cleaner edits one, the change carries to every future job for that customer or property — not just today's job.
Cleaning Notes apply to that single occurrence only.
Cleaners can edit existing notes, not just add new ones. An edit replaces what was there.
Seeing What Changed
Note changes are recorded on the job. Open the job and expand Job Details to see who made the change and when.
When to Turn This On
This works well if your cleaners are the ones discovering the details in the first place — the code that changed, the new dog, the parking situation that isn't what the note says. Letting them fix it on the spot means the next cleaner walks into accurate information instead of a text thread you forgot to act on.
Leave it off if you'd rather notes only change when the office says so. Some owners want a single voice on customer records, and that's a fair reason to keep this closed.
Important Notes
This permission is off by default.
It's account-wide. You can't turn it on for one cleaner and off for another.
Only admins and office staff with settings access can change it.
You can turn it off at any time. Notes cleaners already edited stay as they are.
