Allison supports Model Context Protocol (MCP), an open standard that lets AI assistants like Claude and ChatGPT securely access your Allison data. Once connected, you can ask the assistant questions about your business and it can respond with live data from Allison across various areas:

  • Customers — Search and look up customer records and contacts.

  • Employees — Browse your team and view a cleaner's day-by-day schedule, including availability, jobs, and time off.

  • Jobs — List or retrieve cleaning jobs, filtered by date range, customer, or cleaner.

  • Invoices & Transactions — View invoices and pull payment/refund history to answer revenue questions like "how much did I collect last month?"

  • Quotes & Leads — See open quotes awaiting booking and unconverted leads needing follow-up.

  • Scheduling — Find available job start times on a given date and see which cleaners are free to work them.

What you'll need

  • An Allison account with the Owner role

  • An AI tool that supports MCP with OAuth 2 (examples: Claude Desktop, claude.ai, ChatGPT)

Connecting Allison to your AI assistant

The exact steps depend on the AI tool you're using, but most follow the same pattern:

  1. In your AI tool's settings, look for a section called Connectors, Integrations, or Custom connectors.

  2. Choose the option to add a custom connector or MCP server.

  3. Enter the Allison MCP server URL: https://api.getallison.com/mcp

  4. The tool will open a sign-in window asking you to log into Allison. Sign in as you normally would.

  5. After signing in, you'll see a consent screen showing what permissions the tool is requesting. Review and authorize.

  6. You're connected!

If you're part of multiple companies in Allison, you'll be asked to choose which one to connect. Each connection is scoped to a single company; you can repeat the process to connect additional companies.

Permissions

Allison uses two permission scopes:

  • allison:read — allows the AI to view your Allison data

  • allison:write — allows the AI to make changes on your behalf

Most AI tools will request both scopes by default. Today, Allison's MCP server only offers read-only tools, so allison:write has no effect yet. We're leaving it in place so future write capabilities work without requiring you to reconnect.

Privacy and security

  • Only Owners can connect. This is a deliberate safeguard — connecting an AI assistant grants it access to your company's data, so only users with the Owner role can authorize a connection.

  • Each connection is tied to one user. When you connect an AI assistant, that connection is specific to your Allison user account. Other team members — even other Owners in the same company — don't automatically inherit access. Each person who wants to use an AI assistant with Allison has to connect it themselves using their own Allison login.

  • Your data stays with you. When you connect an AI tool, the tool queries Allison for data in real time. Allison does not send your data to Anthropic, OpenAI, or any other AI provider for training.

  • Connections are per-company. Your connection only lets the AI access the specific Allison company you authorized. If you're a member of multiple companies, each requires its own connection.

  • Rate limits apply. To keep the service reliable, MCP requests are rate-limited. If you hit a limit, the AI will receive an error and you can try again shortly. Limits may change as we refine the service.

Disconnecting

You can revoke an AI tool's access at any time:

  1. Sign into Allison

  2. Go to Settings → Integrations

  3. Find the connection you want to remove and click Disconnect

The AI tool will lose access immediately. You can reconnect anytime by following the steps above.

Pricing

MCP access is included with all Allison plans at no additional cost. This may change in the future; we'll notify you before making any pricing changes.

Troubleshooting

  • Hitting rate limits. If the AI reports being rate-limited, give it a few minutes and try again. If this happens often for normal use, let us know.

  • Connection not working. Try disconnecting (Settings → Integrations) and reconnecting. If issues persist, contact support with the name of the AI tool you're using.
