Allison Roles and Permissions

What each of Allison's five roles can see and do, and which role to give a new team member or virtual assistant.

Written by Blake Wood

Allison has five roles, each with their own set of permissions and abilities. An employee in your Allison account can can hold more than one role — for example, a Manager might also be a Cleaning Technician.

The roles

Owner

Full access to Allison. This is the only role that can:

  • Change company settings, manage sales tax rate, message templates, lead forms, cleaner permissions, and Allison billing

  • Permanently delete a job series

  • Manage integrations like Twilio and Zapier

Best for: the business owner

Manager

Runs the business day to day: schedule, customers, quotes, invoices, messaging, employees, pay rates, payroll, reports, and branding. A Manager can invite, deactivate, and remove employees and change their roles. Cannot change company settings, Allison billing, or most integrations.

Best for: a general manager you trust with money, pay, and hiring

Assistant

Can schedule and edit jobs, assign cleaners, manage customers (including cards), send quotes, send and collect invoices, message customers, complete jobs, and edit timesheets. Can view employees and payroll, and can add a new employee (including a cleaner’s starting pay). Cannot change someone’s role, pay history, or personal details after hire; cannot invite or remove people; cannot edit another cleaner’s availability or time off; cannot change settings, billing, or integrations.

Best for: an office assistant or VA who should run the calendar and inbox — with the caveat that they can still see payroll and pay rates

Sales

Can work leads, quotes, customers, the schedule, and invoices (including charging a card). Can message customers. Cannot complete jobs, edit timesheets, run payroll or business reports, add employees, or change settings.

Best for: someone who sells and books work but should stay out of payroll and operations wrap-up

Cleaning Technician

Required role for anyone who can work a cleaning job. Can see their own jobs and the addresses, entry codes, and notes associated with each job. Cleaners can view their own availability and time off, and manage those if you allow it. Does not get the office schedule, customer list, invoices, or employee directory. Job prices and invoices are hidden. They still see the service address — they need it to work.

Best for: cleaners in the field
