How to Enable and Use SMS Notifications in Allison

Allison just got a major upgrade—SMS notifications are here! This new feature lets you send text reminders and alerts to your customers, giving you another powerful way to communicate with them about upcoming jobs.

Here’s how to turn it on and make it work for your business:

Step 1: Enable SMS Notifications

  1. Log into your Allison account.

  2. Click the top-right menu icon, then go to Settings.

  3. Scroll down to Notifications and click Edit.

  4. You’ll see a new SMS toggle—flip it on!

Once enabled, you can configure which notifications should go out via SMS (just like email settings). For example, you can:

  • Send a job reminder 2, 24, or 48 hours before a clean.

  • Choose to disable email reminders if you prefer texting.

  • Tailor the message timing per your customer preferences.

What Your Customers Will See

All SMS notifications will come from a shared toll-free number (like 866-xxx-xxxx). While it isn’t your local number, it will feel like it’s from your business—we brand the message content with your company name and job info.

⚠️ Note: This is a one-way messaging service, so customers won’t be able to reply and get a response.

Compliance and Opt-Out Info

It’s your responsibility to obtain consent from customers before texting them. Make sure they’re on board with receiving SMS updates.

  • Customers can opt out anytime by replying STOP.

  • If they opt out, the checkbox under their profile > Notifications will be automatically unchecked.

  • You can also manually toggle SMS on/off for any customer under their profile.

Customers will not receive texts again unless they reply UNSTOP.

Want a Local Number?

Right now, Allison uses a shared toll-free number. In the future, you’ll be able to connect your own local SMS number (via Twilio), giving you more control and identity alignment.

If you'd rather wait for that—no problem. You don’t have to use the shared number.
